2026 - Ryan’s Run returning in 31st year
By Jesseka Whitman, Executive Director, Ryan’s House Child Advocacy Center
Every spring, our community gathers for something far bigger than a race. We gather for
remembrance, for hope, and for the children and families who rely on us in their most
difficult moments. On April 4th, we will come together once again for the 31st Annual
Ryan’s Run, held in memory of Ryan Luke, a child whose life continues to inspire
protection, advocacy, and compassion across Pittsburg County.
Ryan’s Run has always been a reflection of who we are as a community: resilient,
generous, and deeply committed to standing up for children. Each year, hundreds of
runners, walkers, volunteers, and supporters show up before sunrise at Jackie Brannon
Correctional Center, not just to participate in a 1mile or 5K event, but to reaffirm that
child abuse has no place in our community and that healing is possible when we work
together.
This year’s event carries that same spirit forward. Funds raised through Ryan’s Run
directly support the work of Ryan’s House Child Advocacy Center, where children who
have experienced abuse or witnessed violence receive forensic interviews, advocacy,
and coordinated support from our multidisciplinary team. Every step taken on April 4th
helps ensure that no child walks their path to healing alone.
We are honored to announce that the 2026 Presenting Sponsor for Ryan’s Run is
Tenaska Kiamichi Generating Station and TKGS Charity Inc. Their continued
partnership demonstrates what it means for local industry to invest in the safety and
wellbeing of the children in the communities they serve. Their generosity strengthens
our ability to provide trauma informed, child centered services year round.
As always, we encourage early registration and early packet pickup at Ryan’s House to
help the race morning run smoothly. Even if you’re not planning to run or walk, you can
still support the mission by donating directly through the registration page.
Ryan’s Run is a tradition rooted in remembrance, but it is also a celebration of
community, a reminder that when we come together, we create a safer, stronger future
for our children. Whether you join us on the course, volunteer, sponsor, or cheer from
the sidelines, your presence matters.
Honoring Ryan’s Legacy
At the heart of this event is Ryan Luke, a little boy whose life was cut tragically short,
but whose legacy continues to protect children three decades later. Ryan’s story is the
reason our community first came together, and it remains the reason we continue this
work today. His memory fuels our commitment to ensuring that every child has a safe
place to turn, a voice that is heard, and a community that refuses to look away. Each
year, Ryan’s Run stands as a promise: that Ryan will never be forgotten, and that his
legacy will continue to change lives.
We look forward to seeing you on April 4th as we honor Ryan’s memory and continue
the work of protecting children, supporting families, and strengthening our community.
