Sensory Kits for Pittsburg County
Ryan’s House Launches Sensory Kit Initiative in Partnership with Autism Foundation of Oklahoma
This October, Ryan’s House Child Advocacy Center is proud to partner with the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma to distribute sensory kits to public service organizations across Pittsburg County. Designed to support individuals with sensory processing needs, these kits will enhance accessibility and promote inclusive, trauma-informed responses in community settings.
This initiative is made possible through generous funding provided by the Oklahoma Bar Foundation, whose support empowers Ryan’s House to expand its mission of advocacy and inclusion.
Why Sensory Kits Matter in Public Service Settings
Sensory kits offer vital tools to help individuals—especially children—regulate overwhelming stimuli during moments of crisis or high stress. When placed in police vehicles, ambulances, and other frontline service environments, these kits can de-escalate situations, foster trust, and reduce trauma. They empower first responders to meet diverse needs with empathy and preparedness, reinforcing a community-wide commitment to safety, dignity, and accessibility.
The month-long project will run from October 1st to October 31st, reflecting Ryan’s House’s commitment to fostering understanding and compassion through practical tools and collaborative outreach.
